The History and Structure of Ceol Mor - Alec Haddow spent his lifetime trying to understand the structure of Classical pipe music and how it was composed. Much of the origins of Piobaireachd had been lost following the breakdown of the Highland society after the failure of the 1745 rising and Piobaireachd only survived through a handful of the manuscripts and dedicated enthusiasts. The music that is referenced in the book can be found in the Piobaireachd society books 1 -13.
Complete Compositions of Ceol Mor - Contains 12 Piobaireachd compostions, and includes two CDs of each tune played in full. This book has been edited by Captain John's son, Colin MacLellan. Biogragraphy is written by Jim McGillivary and Colin MacLellan. Each tune has a description of the history of the tune, giving an insight into Captian John's life.
